Susan Langone is an accomplished Fine Artist, formally trained in painting and earning her BFA from the Fashion Institute of Technology in 1991. She launched her distinguished career in interior design over 25 years ago after working for renowned designer Larry Laslo. Throughout her professional journey, Susan seamlessly blended her artistic talents and passion for painting with her design expertise, by regularly creating bespoke, commissioned paintings for her clients’ living spaces.
Driven by a dedication to lifelong learning and holistic well-being, Susan expanded her credentials in 2018 by earning a Master of Science in Art Therapy and Counseling from the College of New Rochelle. As a Licensed Creative Arts Therapist (LCAT), she now leads The Center for Resiliency, a thriving private practice specializing in evidence-based art therapy.
Through The Center for Resiliency, Susan empowers individuals and groups to unlock their innate potential through art. Her integrative, client-centered approach provides a supportive, non-judgmental environment where creativity fuels healing, growth, and self-discovery. Through tailored art directives and interventions, Susan guides participants to connect more deeply with themselves, nurturing resilience, cultivating strengths, and promoting well-being. Her practice is dedicated to helping each person realize their fullest potential and truly flourish.
Susan’s artwork can be described as Modern Folk Art. Throughout her career as an artist and interior designer Susan has amassed a collection of vintage fabrics that she upcycles into her mixed media paintings, which have often been compared to quilt work. Her work speaks to all things handmade and high touch, representing the techniques of yesteryear and the lost arts of textile design, cutting, pasting and sewing. Her work stands in direct opposition to the fast graphics of today's high tech, instant artificial art. Her sophisticated eye for color and keen sense for combining patterns has served her as her guiding light for her creations, which fully exude her optimism and enthusiasm for living.
“I have been a practicing artist my whole life. Art has always been an essential component to my sense of self, my identity and my overall well-being. I truly feel blessed and grateful to be gifted in this modality because it has a significant impact on every area of my daily life. While my personal artwork is often created as décor, for me creating is not about the product; it is about the process. It is the process of art making that has always been there to help me express myself, gain focus, ease my pain and give me joy.”
